The show kicked off with the freshmen’s hot dance ‘Cry Cry,’ which excited audience with the dynamic rhythm and well-choreographed movements; a duet from the Phantom of Opera highlighted JI freshmen’s singing talents; the performance of nunchakus and martial art exuded youthful energy of the students; The three songs of JI’s trademark band ‘Rosewood’ pushed the evening to its climax with their powerful drums, electric guitars, and infectious vocals. Shane Johnson’s guest performance at the drum set was a nice gesture of JI faculty’s support for the students’ endeavor.
The rich variety of shows including a shadow show, classic dance ‘Evening Primrose,’ vocal solo ‘Autumn,’ and cross talk was very entertaining and roused thundering applause. The evening’s grand finale was a group dance performed by the student union officers and class presidents.
The welcome party was not just a powerhouse performance. More importantly, it carries hope and expectation for the freshmen to succeed in their college life. We wish them luck on their journey of searching.
