Junbin Zhang, a Class of 2015 master degree graduate of the University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI, JI hereafter), has been named one of the “Top Ten Outstanding Youth of Shenzhen” for 2023 by the Youth League of Shenzhen, a developed city in southern China known as a leading special economic zone of the country. The league organized the annual selection to recognize young professionals who have made significant contributions to their fields.
Zhang is the founder and CEO of Yunjing Intelligence Innovation (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., a company focusing on developing revolutionary technological products in the field of household robotics. He was selected for the Forbes China 30 Under 30 list in 2019, the inaugural Science and Technology Innovation China Top 50 list in 2021, and was named Shenzhen’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year and Outstanding Contributor to Songshan Lake’s 20-Year Development. In 2022, he was selected for the X·36Under36 list of young entrepreneurs by 36Kr.
Established in 2016, Yunjing Intelligence has been ranked among China’s top 50 science and technology robotics companies for two consecutive years and was listed on the Hurun Global Unicorn List. As a robotics innovation enterprise, Yunjing has made breakthroughs in multiple fields such as SLAM, 3D perception, AI object recognition, robot structural technology, and big data applications. It has accumulated over 700 technical patents and currently serves over 1.6 million households worldwide.
