Welcome to the UM-SJTU JI Winter Program
Join us for an immersive learning experience with local students to explore China in various ways!
Our winter program offers you high-quality academic courses, as well as a unique opportunity to explore Chinese culture and customs, make new friends, and enjoy interesting excursions. The program combines courses in engineering, arts, humanities or professional development, with researches, field trips and practices in real world settings, providing a comprehensive and enriching educational experience.

Registration deadlines:
- Early-bird: 10am, 1 September
- Regular application deadline: 10am, 7 October
Program highlights:
- Collaborative Learning: Emphasis on teamwork and cross-cultural communication.
- Hands-on Experience: Real-world case studies and field trips.
- Cultural Exchange: Opportunities for students to share insights from their own cultures.
Scholarship opportunities: Two scholarships, each equivalent to full amount of the program fee will be awarded to candidates with strong background.
Transcript: A digital transcript will be provided to each participant after successful completion of the program.

Cost for each course: USD 1560.00
Early bird: USD 1480.00 for registration before 10am, 1 September.
Program fee includes:
- Tuition
- Accommodation
- Shuttle bus service during the program
- Field trips and cultural events
- Insurance throughout program
- Administrative fees
Expenses covered by participants:
- International travels and domestic connecting flight/train to the program destination
- Visa application fees
- Meals
- Other personal expenses during the program
Terms and conditions:
Payment: Students will receive an invoice for the tuition fee after they are admitted by the UM-SJTU JI winter program, and must pay the full fee quoted in the invoice via bank transfer (or WeChat Pay, if applicable) within a maximum of 14 working days upon receiving the invoice.
A place in the UM-SJTU JI Winter Program can only be guaranteed if the full fee has been paid on time. Please note that some banks will charge transaction fees and such fees should be covered by the candidate students.
Early bird discounts: An early bird discount of $80 is valid for registrations made before 10am, 1 September, 2024.
Students from partner universities: Students from partner universities of the UM-SJTU Joint Institute enjoy a 5% discount on the course fees. Please upload an enrollment certificate upon registration. Check the list of our partner universities here.
Personal information: All your personal information will be protected. Personal information will only be used by the UM-SJTU Joint Institute for statistics and records.
Cancellation:To cancel your enrollment in a paid course, please send a written request via email. The following cancellation fees apply to all four courses. Cut-off dates are effective until midnight on the specified date:
6 weeks prior: 10% | Saturday, 16 November, 2024 |
3 weeks prior: 50% | Saturday, 7 December, 2024 |
Course start: 100% | Saturday, 28 December, 2024 |
