The first homecoming for JI alumni took place on August 10. Dean Jun Ni, Scott Yang, Academic Affairs Manager, Professors Mian Li, Lipo Wang, Jason Daida, and Qiang Zhang met with 50 JI alumni that have graduated since 2006.
Dean Ni welcomed the alumni and emphasized the significance of the event. He briefed the alumni on the progress of JI in the past 2 years, including the signing of the 10-year strategic cooperation agreement with University of Michigan and the recognition as the model of international education by the Chinese Ministry of Education. Dean Ni remarked that the development of JI is interdependent with the alumni; JI’s recent accomplishments, which have been recognized by Chinese and international universities and industries, are closely related to JI alumni’s hard work. The alumni’s achievements are JI’s business card. Vice versa, JI is the alumni’s backbone.
Haozhou Lin of Class 2006, on behalf of the alumni, expressed his gratitude for what he had learned in JI, which has been of tremendous help to his job. Zongchang Liu of Class 2008, Chairman of JI Alumni Association, laid out his plan for building a strong JI Alumni Association. Many alumni shared their work experiences or gave their two cents about organizing the alumni association.
The first meeting of the JI Alumni Association concluded successfully with a raffle, of which the 6 prizes are JI Commemorative-Edition Notebooks autographed by Dean Ni, and a reunion dinner. There will be more upcoming activities to bridge between JI and the alumni.
