The annual meeting of the University of Michigan- Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI) was held at Yu Liming Student Center on December 18. All deans and members of the faculty and staff got together to reflect on 2015 and plan for 2016.
Dean Peisen Huang summarized JI’s major achievements in the faculty building, research development, graduate placement and international collaboration during 2015: quite a few junior faculty members won the 1000 Youth Talent Awards; JI has basically passed the evaluation of ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accreditation; a Student Innovation Center has been completed and provides students with state-of-art lab facilities; JI has established collaboration with the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and UM’s Ross School of Business, offering more exchange opportunities to the students; JI’s Development Advisory Board (DAB) has been formed and in full swing; the successive establishment of Yu Liming Endowment Fund and John Wu & Jane Sun Endowment Fund are very encouraging. In 2016, JI will be celebrating her ten-year anniversary and will continue to strive for the goals of innovation, internationalization and quality in the next ten years.
During the annual award ceremony, many faculty and staff members receive various awards for their excellent performance and contributions.
