A “Christmas Carnival” sponsored by the Orient Securities and organized by University of Michigan- Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI) Students’ Association and the Political Science Students’ Association of Huadong Normal University was held at Huadong Normal University on December 19, 2015. More than 200 students from SJTU and other universities in Shanghai enjoyed a festive evening of music, dance, food and friendship.
Fairy Wind Band kicked off the first dance.
Mousse Chamber Orchestra played Mozart’s “G Major Serenade for Strings.”
Besides music and dance, it is a real feast of delicious foods.
“A gift for a dance” hitched up the shy partners effectively.
The dances were intermixed with funny games, such as imitating a dance on video, from which the partners teamed up and warmed up.
The JI freshmen played a pivotal role as dancing coaches, by their patient demos and leading, many bashful students were encouraged to make the first step and eventually enjoy themselves in waltz, four steps and group dances.
Energetic flash dance and hip-hop won loud applause.
At the exciting lucky draw, 33 guests won nice presents from the sponsor.
With Fairy Wind’s melody, the curtain of the magic Christmas Ball was drawn. The students went home with warm memories and new friendships, ready to kick off a youthful dance in the new year.
