In October, JI sophomore Yilun Cao’s photographic work “Youth Dancing” won the second prize in the photography contest themed “Youth@me” sponsored by Shanghai Economy & Information Work Committee and Shanghai Committee of the CommunistYouthLeague.

The photo contest was open in May, 2012, aiming to exhibit the burgeoning Shanghai City and the youthful spirits of her young people, in the categories of “City Development,” “League Construction,” “Working Hard,” “Community Service,” and “Youth Living.”

Yilun Cao, a member of SJTU’s Photography Club, was pleasantly surprised that his work stood out among the 1000 contest entries. He snapped this photo during a ballet performance in SJTU’s Jingjing Hall. He captured the young dancer’s beauty and energy, which he thought matching the theme of “Youth Living” and therefore submitted for the contest.

Cao remarked, “Life is full of wonders waiting to be discovered. Anyone who is passionate about photography and observant can become a great photographer.” He is inspired to record more glimpses of life through his lenses, which he hopes will bring joy and touch people’s hearts.
