JI Professor Olivier Bauchau’s textbook Flexible Multibody Dynamics has been selected as a winner of the 2012 Textbook Excellence Award (Texty) in the category of Computer Science and Engineering by The Text and Academic Authors Association (TAA) in the USA.
The Text and Academic Authors Association, the only association devoted solely to serving textbook and academic authors since 1987 (www.TAAonline.net), created the Textbook Excellence Award in 1992 to recognize excellence in current textbooks and learning materials.
The competition is stiff. To be nominated, a book must be published within the current two years. Each year, a panel of judges composed of noted authors selects one winner from each of eight academic disciplines based on the following criteria:
  • Interesting and informative.
  • Well organized and well prepared.
  • Up to date and appealing.
  • Good teaching tool.
Professor Bauchau’s Flexible Multibody Dynamics was published in 2010 by Springer. He developed this text over more than a decade while teaching graduate courses in advanced dynamics and flexible multibody dynamics at the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering of the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is happy that his academic effort has been recognized.
