Sam & Daisy Wu Fund
Sam & Daisy Wu Scholarship Fund is a special subproject fund affiliated with JIDF. The fund is initiated by Dr. Jun Ni and other co-initators in memory of the late Professor Shien-Ming (Sam) Wu and his wife Daisy T. Wu.
The Sam and Daisy Wu Scholarship is initiated by Dr. Jun Ni and other co-initiators in May 2018 in memory of the late Professor Shien-Ming (Sam) Wu of University of Michigan and his wife Daisy T. Wu. Until December 2020, the Sam and Daisy Wu Fund has exceeded 3 million RMB as an endowment. The annual investment income will support:
- Reward scholarships for the students on campus with excellent academic performance and encourage their academic development
- Reward scholars with outstanding achievements in scientific and engineering research
- Other personal or work who/which is contributive to the educational development of Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Donors can choose to support the Sam and Daisy Wu Fund either by annual giving or independent agreement, and will be recognized as the co-initiators of the fund when the gift reaches a certain amount.
UM-SJTU Joint Institute Development Fund (JIDF) is a college-level development fund affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University Education Development Foundation. JIDF is in the process of accepting gifts from friends, alumni, parents, corporates and non-profit organizations. JIDF consists of special named funds and annual funds to support the most priority and development of student, faculty, research and innovation, and cultural heritage.
Tax Exemption
According to the official Law of Income Tax, with respect to the charitable donations to SJTUEDF incurred by enterprises, the portion within 12% of the total annual profit may be deducted from the taxable income.
