This course is a fast-paced, hands-on survey course introducing students to the entire media production process. Students will work in groups to complete short digital video projects, and, in the process, gain first-hand experience in strategies and techniques of scripting, pre-production, production, and post-production. The aim of the course is to explore the aesthetics and processes of media production and to introduce tools and approaches used in film, television, and media production.

Course Topics:

1.Learn the various roles of media production (writer, director, editor, etc.)
2.Practice the process of media production (scripting, preproduction, production, post-production)
3.Acquire an adequate critical vocabulary for media production
4.Experiment with various elements of media production such as screenwriting, storyboarding, shot listing, blocking, directing, acting, cinematography, lighting, sound recording, editing, sound design, etc.
5.Build essential teamwork skills
