Description:
ENGL3230 introduces students to the creative process and practice of fiction writing. Students explore their communication skills between self-expression and public critique, between writing as a process and as submitting finished work, and to explore creativity as forms of lateral thinking, synthesis, adaptation, and intuitive, sub-rational practices. Assignments perform a mixture of improvisatory ??pantsing,?? and pre-constructive ??plotting?? to craft an escalating story arc with engaging characters. Students workshop their stories and practice community-building oral and written communication skills. Students learn through practice, and work based on their own intuition, experience, desire for expression and audience reaction.?
