JI is here to assist you about your career development！

UM-SJTU Joint Institute (JI) connects students, alumni and employers. It provides comprehensive services, such as self-awareness, job exploration, career decision, employment strategies and so on. The college has established long-term cooperative relations with world famous corporations and offers students straight and close interaction with enterprises, especially in recruitment, mentoring and company visits, and also provides multi-dimensional services. Students are granted with opportunities to visit companies and have internships through social practice. JI provides employment guidance and career planning consulting services to all JI students (including undergraduates and graduate students) and alumni, and accepts individual and group consultations. You can make an appointment for resume writing, interview simulation, enquiry of cooperative enterprises and employment destination of the college over the years, self-exploration, career planning, workplace world cognition, interpersonal communication, time management, etc.

• Dazhi provides employment warm-up, vocational encyclopedia, employability training, perfect resume, effective occupational adaptation and ease of job search pressure. Through step-by-step guidance training, the system helps graduates to improve their professional cognitive level and behavior habits, overcome obstacles to job search, and improve their ability to choose jobs.

• Many students don’t know what to do, they don’t know their own characteristics, they are at a loss in college, and sometimes they think more but do less … Jixun is committed to helping you solve these problems. It allows you to achieve a comprehensive self-understanding, obtain detailed and targeted career information, learn how to decide your career goals, develop your own career plan, and form your own career development action plan.

• Do you really understand yourself? What do you want to do, what can you do, and what are you good at? Are you at a loss about your future and your employment? What should you do at this time? The so-called “Know Yourself, Know Your Others, Fight Hard” can only make clear judgments and correct choices on the basis of fully understanding yourself and the other party. You are a little bit shy, not good at speaking and stressful occasionally, but you don’t know how to deal with it. Are you eager to have an experienced person to help you?

They volunteered to become our career mentors, just to help the confused and helpless students to become better! Corporate Relations：

Internships are an excellent way for students to put knowledge learned in the classroom to practical use and to gain hands-on industry experience. Internships provide important skills in networking and professional interpersonal exchange.

The Joint Institute internship initiative is underway. Currently, the school provides internships for the JI Summer Program students visiting from the University of Michigan. During the Fall and Spring semesters, JI students interested in applying for internships can inquire with the JI staff for more information and assistance making contact with the Institute’s network of industry leaders.
