With great anticipation, the welcome party for 2015 JI new graduate students was held on September 25th. This year, the talented JI students presented a dynamic show chock full of upbeat music, cool dances, and exciting games.
To prepare the new teaching assistants for the fall semester, the Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT-JI) held the 2015 fall TA Orientation Conference at the University of Michigan- Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI) on September 19, 2015....
The new students of the Joint Institute arrived at the SJTU Minhang Campus on September 12 morning. A volunteer team of JI students in eye-catching T shirts were ready bright and early, waving JI’s giant flag and helping the new students settle into the JI family.
The contest participants gain precious experience of completing projects independently while making new friends with similar interest. JI TEC members have learned by teaching and honed their organization skills.They are looking forward to better performance next summer.
In August, a group of JI students won prizes in two different innovation competitions, i.e., TiC100 Smart City Innovation & Entrepreneurship Contest and “Magic Ideas” Chinese Innovator Competition, with their invention “Smart Belt for the elderly.”

Passing the competitive selection process of both SJTU and Shanghai Government Education Committee, Chengzhi Shi, ME master student, and Xiaolong He, ECE master student, both of JI’s 2010 Class of Graduate Students (first of JI), turned out to be the winners of this honor.
The English Full House started as an English Corner but, due to high demand and increasing popularity, has evolved into a dynamic multifaceted club for cultural exchange.
In the 3rd International Conference on High-end Application of Raman Spectroscopy (RamanFest), JI EE Class 2010 Ph.D. student Jing Long won the second prize.
The 7th SJTU Freshman Mechanical Competition was held on May 15 evening. This year the highly anticipated event was sponsored by Zhejiang Liming Engine Parts Co., Ltd.
The Gourmet Night Market is the first of its kind organized by the JI Living Quarter Club, which provides an excellent opportunity for students to hone hands-on skills through a savory experience.
