Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of Michigan signed another 10-year partnership agreement, vowing to expand bilateral cooperation and continue support of the UM-SJTU Joint Institute.

Long Bin Building, a brand new building housing the University of Michigan – Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute, was officially put into use in a grand opening ceremony held on May 24.

Twenty-three students were awarded their graduate degrees at the 2018 University of Michigan- Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute Graduate commencement Ceremony held at the Yu Liming Center on March 29.

Professor Yaping Dan’s research team at UM-SJTU Joint Institute has published a paper entitled “Deep level transient spectroscopic investigation of phosphorus-doped silicon by self-assembled molecular monolayers”in Nature Communications.

The exhibition showcased 50 projects of JI’s various experimental courses from freshman through senior year, including “Introduction to Engineering,” “Design and Manufacturing III,” and “System Design and Implementation,” as well as a “Global Multidisciplinary Design Project.”

The themes of this conference focus on the new propulsion technologies of combustion, heat transfer, compressors, and detonation engine of the aircraft engines.

A collaborated paper titled “Dynamic tuning of optical absorbers for accelerated solar-thermal energy storage” has been published in the journal “Nature Communications.”

The highly anticipated annual talent show conveys the JI family’s best wishes for the new students while showcasing JI students’ amazing artistic talents, well-rounded virtuosity, teamwork, and time management skills.

DAB members offered advice on the institute’s international research cooperation and financial sustainability. They discussed ways to raise funds, the construction of the new research centers, and ways to stimulate students’ innovative and entrepreneurial awareness.
