JI Student Union
The Student Union of UM-SJTU JI is the largest student organization for undergraduate students. Its duties involve organizing and managing activities in various aspects, and the cause to ensure the rights and interests of JI students. It’s composed of a presidium and nine departments. They are Organization Department, Liaison Department, Technology department, Sports Department, Career Department, Art & Entertainment Department, Publicity Department, Media Department and Club Department.
Current Presidents are Yuzhou Zhai, Yiqi Sun and Yuchen Xia.
JI Graduate Student Union
UM-SJTU Joint Institute (JI) Graduate Student Union is the student organization for graduate students, which consists of three core Departments. Art & Sports Department undertakes a variety of large-scale cultural and sports activities, including the welcome party for freshmen, the badminton competition, and the graduation red carpet show, etc. Career Department with mission of assisting and guiding graduates’ career planning, provides students with information about the industry work through various forms. It helps cultivate students’ professional quality and awareness to the career development. Liaison department is responsible for external communication and internal coordination affairs, which strengthens the connections between JI and other schools’ organizations. Current Presidents are Xinyi Wang, Qinrui Cheng and Jincheng Shi.
Student Union Campaign
The Student Union sets up a campaign month every year, which allows the candidate team to display their ideas within a month, and allows representatives to gain a deeper understanding of the team’s overall strength and construction ideas. At the school congress, representatives from various organizations elect a new presidium.
Dean meeting
The twice-year dean meeting is organized by the student union, collects students’ proposals, and questions, and arranges positive communication between the students and the dean. The Dean cared about the voice of every JI student, hoping to build the joint institude better.
The 30th Student Congress of Shanghai Jiao Tong University is an important platform for students to participate in school affairs, which can exercise students’ thinking ability and leadership ability. The participating students feel honored to participate in such a big event. Through the delegates, other students can have a good understanding of the school affairs.
Scientific research, employment sharing party will invite seniors who have got the offer to tell students the employment affairs. Through the experience, they told students the job-hunting experience. There also are senior students who go abroad to bring overseas study experience to students to help them better apply for going abroad.
Welcome Party for freshmen of newcomers is dedicated to creating a home atmosphere for the new members of the Michigan College family. The party is designed to familiarize students with each other and provide a stage for them to show off their talents.
Fellowship activity with the East China University of Political Science and Law was hold. The purpose is to promote the communication between engineering and liberal arts, expand the circle of friends. So that students no longer only addicted to learning, but can have a rich and colorful life.
