Abstract

As an important branch of combustion, spray combustion is widely used in industrial fields. Developing efficient and high-fidelity numerical models has important significance in simulating multi-component reacting flows, which is the focus of the current dissertation. The newly-developed spray flamelet approach combined with the multi-component fuel in the LES framework performs satisfactorily when applied to the two-phase turbulent combustion. The inclusion of the dispersed phase in the tabulation allows direct consideration of the fuel impact. The present work has demonstrated that the complex nature of multi-components and the multiple combustion regimes in the two-phase combustion can be directly included in the spray flamelet approach, which can provide new insights into the complex turbulent spray combustion.
