Abstract
With the successful integration of Radiation therapy (RT) and MRI into a single treatment system by different vendors, the value of MRI in RT workflow is increasingly recognized in the past 10 years or so. However, access to this novel treatment system is still mainly limited to academic hospitals and large cancer centers. As MRgRT increasingly shows potentials and having the potential to be one of the main stream treatment system, it is highly desirable to disseminate the new knowledge gained and lessons learned by current MRgRT users to the wider audience. In this talk, general introduction of the concept of MRgRT and UCLA clinical MRgRT experience will be discussed; and some clinical developments using the on-board MRI will also be shared.
Biography
Dr. Yingli Yang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. She obtained her PhD in magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging from Columbia University and finished her therapy medical physics residency training at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Yang is currently the lead Medical Physicist for the UCLA MR-guided Radiotherapy program. Her research focuses on advanced development of MRI guided Radiation Therapy techniques, including MR only radiotherapy, dynamic multidimensional imaging for treatment planning, and functional imaging for assessing tumor response to radiation.
