The final of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s (SJTU) Freshman Cup basketball game was held at the stadium of Minhang Campus on December 19, 2015. After winning their way through seven games among more than 20 teams over the last two months, the University of Michigan- SJTU Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI) women’s basketball team beat Team Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering 27:24 in the final competition and won the SJTU “Freshman Cup” Basketball Championship, the second time since 2012.
The JI team is composed entirely of first-year undergraduate students, unlike other teams, which also including graduate students. The team members are young, energetic and fearless. They practiced hard despite heavy class loads. Besides intensive training and skillful coaching, their seamless teamwork and high spirit also contributed to their victory.
