ISSCC 2025 accepts two papers by JI research team
The research team led by Associate Professor Xuyang Lu of the University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI, JI hereafter) has had two papers accepted by the 2025 IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC), a top conference in the field of integrated circuits. The papers, first-authored by JI doctoral students Yutian Zhao and Runqing Cai, focus on innovations in digital beamforming power amplifiers and microrobots with on-chip energy harvesting. Professor Lu is the corresponding author for both papers.

The new cohort of international students from the University of Michigan – Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI, JI hereafter) headed to Shanghai’s suburban Chongming Island on October 13 for a day of rural research and hands-on labor experience at Chunfeng Village, located at the mouth of the Yangtze River.

Magnetic levitation (maglev) motion control is a key technology in the fields of precision manufacturing and high-speed transportation. Prof.Peisen Huang, Mr. Xiaoguang Jiang (JI Teaching Lab) and Kwee-Yan Teh would like to put together an IPP team for the development of a lab-scale maglev linear motion platform for better understanding of the technology
JI students claim two golds at global innovation competition
Two student teams from the University of Michigan – Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI, JI hereafter) have clinched two gold awards at the 2024 China International College Students’ Innovation Competition. The JI students secured top honors under the Industrial Proposition Track with their projects named “High-Sensitivity Digital Photoelectric Hydrophone Solution” and “Micro-Level Lithium Battery Lifetime Failure Analysis Solution.”

The University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI, JI hereafter) has organized the 10th meeting of the China-Foreign Joint Education Conference held in Shanghai from October 10 to 12, in collaboration with the SJTU-Paris Elite Institute of Technology and the SJTU-USC Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry. Centered around the theme of “Promoting National Development through Science and Education via High-Quality Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education,” the conference aimed to explore new ideas for high-quality development in China-foreign joint education.
