JI Spring Seminar Series kicked off at 500 Upper College Hall on March 14, 2012. It was co-sponsored by JI Science Innovation Association and the Student Union. Every Wednesday in March and April at 16:00, heavyweight professors are asked to lecture for students’ better understanding of the research directions of their majors.
Jigang Wu, Assistant Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and David Hung, Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering (ME) gave the first seminar on major selection. Prof. Jigang Wu gave an overview of ECE, talked about the main application fields and the latest research findings, introduced all the research directions of ECE at JI. Prof. David Hung introduced some knowledge of ME, shared his experience of choosing ME, his path of study, and played a video to demonstrate the whole process of producing a motor engine. Afterwards, the two professors answered students’ questions.
The students remarked that they had learnt a lot from the well prepared, exciting presentations. Other well-known professors have been invited to lecture in this JI Spring Seminar Series which is expected to be a beacon on the students’ road to research.
