The commendation meeting for Shanghai Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Organization was held in Shanghai on 31st March, 2012, with several months of strict assessment and election, JI won the “Model Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Organization” award. Participants of the competition included all sino-foreign cooperative education organizations in China. As the representative of JI, Associate Dean Peisen Huang attended this meeting.
The election was organized and administered by the Shanghai Agency for Educational Evaluation and authorized by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. It is a high-standard and capabilities screening procedure, aiming at providing niche targeting guidance on education via integrating international education resources, in order to cultivate talents with international vision and professional ability.
Apart from JI, there are other organization winners, including China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and Chinesisch-Deutsche Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften der Tongji-Universität(CDHAW).
As one of the only 8 models of this project for sino-foreign cooperative education organization, JI is the model for a professional engineering institute, the equal-partner institution cooperatively sponsored by the University of Michigan and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, specializing in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Mechanical Engineering (ME) fields. With 5 years of development, JI has gained great achievements on first-rate faculty construction, high-quality talent cultivation, philosophy of schooling and has realized a creative way to build a first-class international institute via sino-foreign cooperation.
