Recently, JI faculty and staff have been traveling with the SJTU graduate students recruiting teams to major cities in China, including Wuhan, Changsha, Xian, Nanjing, Jinan, Xiamen, Chongqing, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Beijing, Tianjin, Harbin, Changchun, and Shenyang. So far, the response has been great. Nearly 100 students from famous Chinese universities, such as Zhejiang University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Xian Jiao Tong University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Dalian University of Technology, Zhongshan University, and Beijing Jiao Tong University, have signed up for JI’s upcoming graduate students recruiting summer camp.
After careful review of the applications, the JI Graduate Students Committee announced that three outstanding students have already won the prestigious Covidien Presidential Scholarship (18,000 RMB a year) that was recently established to attract incoming graduate students. Ten more scholarships will be awarded at the end of the summer camp.
The 2012 JI Graduate Students Summer Camp will take place on July 11-13, during which excellent junior students from all over China will gather to experience learning and living at JI. They will take lab courses and interview with the faculty.
The application deadline for the summer camp is June 28, 2012. The final list of participants will be announced on JI’s website in early July. (http://umji.situ.edu.cn)
