JI holds Dean renewal ceremony
JI renews Peisen Huang as its Dean in a renewal ceremony held on January 8 at the conference room of the institute. The reappointment decision was made effective from November 21, 2017, as announced by JI party secretary Xinwan Li on behalf of the Organization Department of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU).

2017 JI Winter Design Expo concludes successfully
The exhibition showcased 50 projects of JI’s various experimental courses from freshman through senior year, including “Introduction to Engineering,” “Design and Manufacturing III,” and “System Design and Implementation,” as well as a “Global Multidisciplinary Design Project.”

Professor Shou-Hang Bo of the Joint Institute and his collaborators have recently published a paper entitled “High magnesium mobility in ternary spinel chalcogenides” in Nature Communications, describing the discovery of the fastest magnesium-ion solid-state conductor (magnesium scandium selenide), a major step towards making solid-state Mg batteries a reality.

During the 2017 ASME-sponsored IMECE held in Tampa, Florida recently, JI Professor Yanfeng Shen receved the Best Paper award for his paper titled “Efficient Modeling of Nonlinear Scattering of Ultrasonic Guided Waves from Fatigue Cracks using Local Interaction Simulation Approach.”
