Shanghai Municipal Education Commission has announced the winners of model English Courses for international students, among which is Probabilistic Methods in Engineering taught by JI’s lecturer Dr. Horst Hohberger.
This course is a required course for the JI international students and the undergraduates majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering based on the curricula of the University of Michigan. Dr. Horst Hohberger has adapted and developed the course according to JI students’ level and background. The course is conducted entirely in English and systematically introduces a variety of statistical methods, such as sampling and qualitative data comparison. Through constant practice, students are trained to master the statistical techniques of data manipulation, which can be quickly applied to solving the engineering problems, experiments, and practical projects.
Dr. Hohberger has been a renowned excellent teacher, who won “The Most Popular Teacher of SJTU” in 2012. With his innovative and engaging teaching style, the course Probabilistic Methods in Engineering has been highly reviewed by the students.
