Departing from the traditional watercolor style, Ying’s artwork combines realism and impressionism. On her inspiration of the painting, Ying says: “I just wanted to create a realistic depiction of my Hainan impression. While I was struggling with the layout, I recalled the abstract design I had learned from my Computer Architecture Design course: the structure of each part is neat, clear, and seamlessly linked as a whole. Therefore, I utilized the split and merge technique cleverly to demonstrate the soft forms of the plants.
Yuqing Ying is graduating from JI with the major of Electrical and Computer Science. She has been integrating engineering ideas into her paintings and has set a perfect model of science and art combination. She has created many unique pieces and outshone other traditional artists.
