On March 4, a delegate from the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) led by Vice President Ramon Wyss visited the Joint Institute, exchanged ideas about collaboration, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding. JI’s Dean Peiseng Huang, Party Secretary Xinwan Li, and Associate Dean Gang Zheng attended the ceremony.
The Swedish Royal Institute of Technology is located in Stockholm, Sweden. It is one of Europe’s leading universities and Sweden’s largest public science and technology university, with international reputation in the field of engineering technology. Its extensive research with state-of-the-art facilities rank among the top of the world. Since 2012, there have been fruitful exchanges between the Joint Institute and the KTH, especially in student exchange. There have been repeated visits from KTH to JI. During the 2014 school year, there were exchanges of 2 students from each side. Dr. Wyss praises JI students’ global vision.
Signing of this MOU will strengthen the cooperation between the two sides. The first batch of JI students are expected to start a 1-year study at KTH in fall 2015, with the opportunity to apply for KTH’s 1-year master program later. Those students who have met the graduate requirements of both sides will be awarded a bachelor’s degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University as well as a master’s degree from the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology.
