Shanghai Jiao Tong University has announced the winners of 2016 “Outstanding Teacher Award” and “Candlelight Award.” The University of Michigan- Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute’s (UM-SJTU JI) Professor Chengbin Ma won the grand prize of “Outstanding Teacher Award,” Dr. Jing Liu won the second prize of the “Candlelight Award,” and staff member Yu Sun won the ” Ling Hongxun Award. ” Among them, Professor Ma is the first JI faculty member to win the prestigious award. He has effectively supported and made outstanding contributions to JI’s undergraduate teaching for a long time.
Brief biography:
Chengbin Ma is an assistant professor and doctoral supervisor at the Joint Institute. He received both master’s and doctoral degrees of electrical engineering from University of Tokyo in September 2001 and September 2004 respectively. He Joined JI in August 2008. He has been teaching courses in signal processing, control and electromechanical integration. His research interests include servo control, electric vehicle motor and dynamics control, management and optimization of new energy systems, wireless power transmission, etc.Details of Professor Ma’s research team | |
Jing Liu is a lecturer at the Joint Institute. He received a doctoral degree from University of Auckland, New Zealand in 2012. Since joining JI in 2013, he has been teaching in many courses in higher mathematics and has been actively designing and improving teaching methods, especially for teaching international students. | |
Yu Sun is a laboratory technician at the Joint Institute. He joined JI at end of 2012 and has been responsible for teaching experiments in mechanical and electrical laboratories. He is a conscientious hard worker and has been praised by teachers and students. |
