The 2017 Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) open house/undergraduate admission fair was held at the Minhang campus on May 20. Nearly 30 domestic first-class colleges were invited to set up booths. The University of Michigan-SJTU Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI) also sent a large recruiting team to provide information for prospective students and parents.

An information seminar was held at JI in the afternoon, attended by more than 200 parents of students. JI faculty and staff provided detailed information and answered questions about JI’s education model, well-rounded training and career development.
After the meeting, parents continued to ask questions.
As a successful example of international cooperative education, JI has been at the forefront of the internationalization of higher education. JI’s two majors, i.e., mechanical engineering and electronics and computer engineering, are among the first in China to achieve ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) certification, with the latter being the only one in the country. At the same time, JI has been actively expanding its cross-disciplinary training model, having successfully carried out the Michigan Ross Master of Management – Shanghai Cohort Program with the UM Ross Business School, which combines technology with business to create a new generation of engineering and management talents. In major offerings, JI will further build “engineering + engineering”, “engineering + science”, “engineering + business”, “engineering + economics”, “engineering + law” and other models. In terms of degree programs, JI will further expand the Sequential Undergraduate/Graduate Study Program (SUGS), dual master program and sequential master/doctoral study program so that all majors can offer more diversified cross-disciplinary degrees.
