The University of Michigan – Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (UM-SJTU JI, JI hereafter) has announced a new partnership agreement signed with Singapore-based Nanyang Technological University (NTU) recently. The agreement expands the Global Degree Pathways (GDP) program of JI to 12 master’s programs across three NTU colleges, strengthening JI’s global academic network and providing students with enhanced international learning opportunities.

Under the agreement, the GDP program with NTU will be offered through the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, and the College of Computing & Data Science. Following a “3.5+2” structure, eligible JI students may apply in the fall of their junior year and, upon acceptance, commence their two-year master’s studies at NTU in the fall semester of their senior year. This initiative integrates the strengths of both institutions, promoting interdisciplinary education and innovative engineering training. Applications for the first cohort will open soon, with the inaugural group beginning their studies at NTU in Fall 2025.
