Research Labs
Aero-Thermal Laboratory
Director:
Description:
The Laboratory works on heat transfer and aerodynamics with particular application to gas turbines. Research interests range from fundamental studies of physical processes that are important for jet-engine life and performance, to the development of innovative cooling schemes for HP turbine blade and advanced measurement techniques and instrumentation. Major experimental facilities include a large-scale transonic wind tunnel, two low-speed wind tunnels and a high-speed disk-rotor test rig, which can reproduce the engine-representative Mach number, Reynolds number, temperature ratio and relative rotating speed.
