Our main research interests are in the field of System, Control, and Optimization. The objective is to develop both theoretical constructs and engineering techniques to analyze and control the physical world from nanoscale devices in quantum and nano technologies to large scale complex processes in industrial applications. This will not only stimulate the development of revolutionary technologies, but also provide a better fundamental understanding of the physical world at many different strata. In work to date we have struck a balance between participation in research in engineering and mathematical and physical sciences. We believe that a great deal of progress is to be made by straddling cross-disciplinary boundaries.
